Summer School

Pupils joining us in year 7 this year had missed a significant proportion of key stage 2 face-to-face teaching and therefore missed valuable preparation for secondary education. Our summer school in 2021 allowed invited students the opportunity to take part in a range of enrichment activities, alongside daily numeracy and literacy initiatives.

The summer school was a 5 day event in the first week of the summer holidays. It allowed almost half of our incoming cohort to build relationships with new students and teachers and familiarise themselves with their new school environment. Students were selected from information gathered from our primary school colleagues within our transition programme.

Our enrichment activities included Rocket Making, A fashion day making outfits from recycled material, Science experiments and a Sports Day. Of course the final day had to include a Celebration inflatable slide and certificate presentation for all the students. Everyone had an amazing time!
